FARNHAM’S HERITAGE OPEN DAYS Heritage Open Days (HODs) is England’s biggest and most popular voluntary cultural event, attracting around a million visitors. Established in 1994 as England’s contribution to European Heritage Days, HODs is organised at the national level by English Heritage. The Farnham Society, supported by Farnham Town Council, organised Farnham’s Heritage Open Days, which this year were held from Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th September 2011 See the brochure for 2011 Heritage Open Days with guide to venues and maps. Heritage Open Days (HODs) celebrate England’s architecture and culture by allowing visitors free access to: interesting properties that are either not usually open, or would normally charge an entrance fee; and tours, events and activities that highlight local environments and cultural heritage. Anyone can be involved, so do please join us in The Farnham Society’s provision of cultural fun-for-all. How to get involved in Heritage Open Days HODs is organised by local people who dedicate their spare time to opening properties and staging activities. HODs happens only through the public-spirited generosity of people from all walks of life, who care about and take pride in their local communities. It is their enthusiastic support and knowledge that makes HODs events so accessible, engaging and enjoyable for all. For HODs to be a success we would like to ask you to be active in support of your local community, to enable others to enjoy local aspects of our cultural heritage that are within your gift. Although this year’s programme is virtually complete, we would like to ask you for any early indications of your willingness to give active support to Farnham’s Heritage Open Days next year. There are many ways in which you could help people to enjoy the spirit of our local heritage, and we would be delighted to hear from you:
We are also keen to hear from anyone who might wish to offer financial sponsorship (no matter how small) to enable the event’s resounding success. Anyone can be involved, so do please join us in The Farnham Society’s provision of cultural fun-for-all.
